Over 12,000 athletes from primary and secondary schools across the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State featured at the 2nd Akwa Ibom Youth Sports Festival for primary and secondary school pupils and students.
The event featured 23 sports for secondary schools and 14 for primary schools and was declared open by the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel .
This edition of the Games had a prize money of N18million up for grabs for the first three positions.
Governor Emmanuel is lit the festival torch and watched activities including the opening ceremony of the games. Promoting a rich sport heritage and the spirit of sportmanship and unity among the youths.
