The immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, CON, has harped on the need for renewed energy in furthering God’s work in one’s immediate society given the invaluable contributions of the Body of Christ to human development and the society.

In his tributes at the burial ceremonies of Late Elder Christian Robson Etang at the Salvation Army High School, Efa, Etinan, Friday, Mr. Emmanuel eulogised the peaceful disposition of the departed Registered Trustee of the United Evangelical Church, and urged the bereaved family to imbibe the ideals of faith, compassion and love which their father embodied while alive.

“Elder Etang was our leader. As a Church Chairman in Sururele, he stood up to the work of God, ensuring the church building and various innovations in the church which we have today”, the former Governor noted.

In a sermon at the obsequies themed, “The Death of the Righteous” Rev. Daniel E. Akwatang, reminded the congregation of the inevitability and uncertainty of the time of death for all mortals.

“To the righteous, death is rest from labour, a desirable thing, and a mere shadow, but to the unrighteous and wicked, death is a call to judgement; fear and terror”, the preacher pontificated.

He called on all to open their hearts and be born again in order to live and die in righteousness.
